Play Outdoors: Have Fun, Stay Healthy

At The Adventurous Child, we’re proud to promote the educational benefits of outdoor play.  We also appreciate all the physical benefits children receive from their time on the preschool playground.  Research shows (Fjortoft 2004; Burdette and Whitaker 2005) children who regularly play outdoors:

–          Become fitter and leaner

–          Develop stronger immune systems

–          Have more active imaginations

–          Have lower stress levels

–          Play more creatively

–          Have greater respect for themselves

By encouraging them to play outside, you are helping to reverse childhood obesity rates while creating happier, healthier, more confident children.  Get more ideas on what the children can do on your preschool playground.

We strive to create fun and informative content that will help young children learn and grow. However, it's important to keep in mind that all activities should be performed under the supervision of an adult. The Adventurous Child website is intended to serve as a reference and guidance for educational activities, and it is ultimately the responsibility of the parent, guardian, and/or educator to determine the appropriateness of the activity for their child’s age and maturity level. Thank you for your understanding and support!
