Back to Recess

In our last entry, I talked about the importance of going back to school and hopping right into the educational side both in the indoor and outdoor classroom.  But we can’t soon forget what most people think of when they think of the outdoors in preschool and kindergarten; recess or outdoor play.

Most children enjoy recess, running around spending time with other children, that’s a no brainer.  For some children, though, they need just as much help prepping for social interactions as they do educational ones.  If your child is uncomfortable reaching out to others try teaching them a hand slapping game such as Miss Mary Mack so that they can engage other children and teach them the game.

Our children need social and emotional support from us, help them to be prepared for social interaction on the playground!

We strive to create fun and informative content that will help young children learn and grow. However, it's important to keep in mind that all activities should be performed under the supervision of an adult. The Adventurous Child website is intended to serve as a reference and guidance for educational activities, and it is ultimately the responsibility of the parent, guardian, and/or educator to determine the appropriateness of the activity for their child’s age and maturity level. Thank you for your understanding and support!
