Federal Child Care Funding for FY2027: What Advocates Need to Know

The federal appropriations process for Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27), which begins October 1, 2026, is now underway, and funding discussions are gaining momentum on Capitol Hill. The National Head Start Association is calling on supporters to help ensure Head Start remains a priority in these decisions.

As part of this effort, the National Head Start Association is preparing “Dear Colleague” letters to the House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee, the group responsible for determining Head Start funding levels. The goal is to secure as many signatures as possible from members of the House of Representatives to demonstrate strong, bipartisan support for increased Head Start funding in FY27.

Please take a minute to click the Button below to email your member of the House of Representatives and urge them to sign the FY27 Head Start Appropriations Support Letter. After sending your message, consider sharing the link with colleagues and friends to help amplify support!

We strive to create fun and informative content that will help young children learn and grow. However, it's important to keep in mind that all activities should be performed under the supervision of an adult. The Adventurous Child website is intended to serve as a reference and guidance for educational activities, and it is ultimately the responsibility of the parent, guardian, and/or educator to determine the appropriateness of the activity for their child’s age and maturity level. Thank you for your understanding and support!
